Subject: Claim for Outstanding Wages and End-of-Service Entitlements

Dear [Manager / HR Name],

I worked at [Employer] as [Job Title] from [Start Date] to [End Date / Last Working Day]. As my employment has now ended, I am writing to request payment of the amounts due to me under my contract and UAE labour law.

Based on my records, the outstanding amounts are:
- Final salary for [period / month]: [amount in AED]
- End-of-service gratuity (based on basic wage of [basic salary in AED]): [amount in AED]
- Encashment of [number] untaken annual leave days: [amount in AED]
- Pay in lieu of notice, if applicable: [amount in AED]

My basic monthly wage was [basic salary in AED] and my total length of service was [years / months].

I kindly request settlement of these amounts by [deadline date]. Please confirm in writing once payment has been arranged.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

What to include

  • Your full name, job title, and dates of employment (start date and last working day)
  • Your basic monthly wage, since gratuity is calculated on basic pay excluding allowances
  • An itemised list of what you are owed: final salary, gratuity, leave encashment, and pay in lieu of notice if relevant
  • Your total length of continuous service, as at least one year is required for gratuity
  • A clear, reasonable payment deadline and a request for written confirmation
  • Your contact details and identifiers such as Emirates ID or labour card number

What happens next

  1. 1Send your itemised claim to the employer or HR in writing and keep a copy, giving a clear deadline for payment.
  2. 2If the deadline passes without payment, you can file a complaint with MOHRE (the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation).
  3. 3MOHRE will usually attempt an amicable settlement between you and the employer first.
  4. 4If no settlement is reached, the matter is referred to the Labour Court for a decision.
  5. 5Keep your WPS salary records, contract, and any final settlement documents to support your claim.
