What to include
- Your full name, job title, and dates of employment (start date and last working day)
- Your basic monthly wage, since gratuity is calculated on basic pay excluding allowances
- An itemised list of what you are owed: final salary, gratuity, leave encashment, and pay in lieu of notice if relevant
- Your total length of continuous service, as at least one year is required for gratuity
- A clear, reasonable payment deadline and a request for written confirmation
- Your contact details and identifiers such as Emirates ID or labour card number
What happens next
- 1Send your itemised claim to the employer or HR in writing and keep a copy, giving a clear deadline for payment.
- 2If the deadline passes without payment, you can file a complaint with MOHRE (the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation).
- 3MOHRE will usually attempt an amicable settlement between you and the employer first.
- 4If no settlement is reached, the matter is referred to the Labour Court for a decision.
- 5Keep your WPS salary records, contract, and any final settlement documents to support your claim.
